Beginnings and endings - it's built into life!
The Artists of Arkansas.com began its life as The Eureka Springs Artists Registry (www.eurekaspringsartists.com). The registry was the vision of Eureka Springs resident, Steve Schmidt, back in 2002. He wanted to give the artists of Eureka a venue to showcase their talents and works. Hence the Registry was born. After many years of giving his time and energies to the creation and promotion of the arts through the website and local art shows, he had to move on, handing the reigns over to Zeek Taylor.
The art community owes a huge debt of gratitude to both Steve and Zeek.
After a period, Zeek resigned his position, although still active in the local art community. The one constant through this time was the registry's webmaster, Larry Wishon. He has maintained the ESAR website from the beginning. The future of the ESAR website fell into his hands. Not wanting to see the online artist community die a slow death, a change was needed. This website is that change.
On the pages of the Artists of Arkansas.com, I hope that many aspiring and experienced artists will benefit from this online venue, enabling them to sell their works to a larger audience of patrons, and connect with others they would not have otherwise met. We have added some new features that was not available in the old site, such as a calendar of events, an art forum whereby artists from all over can share their ideas and connect with kindred spirits. We have also added the ability for our artists to connect their artist pages with some of their other online community pages, e.g, Facebook, LinkedIn, Behance, Twitter and others.
I hope the artist community of Arkansas will find this site useful and enjoyable. If you have any questions, be sure to check out our Knowledgebase first. If I can be of any assistance or if you have suggestions for the site, I would love to hear from you.
