Artist Statement

Painting is my first passion. I hope to live out my life to the end with a paint brush in my hand. Although I have painted many portraits the still life has held a particular fascination for me because of the many possibilities it presents to a creative imagination. If you combine it with landscape those possibilities become endless. Choices of objects are made based on color, shape, tone and texture as well as for their prodigious or symbolic characteristics. I enjoy manipulating illusion to create a unique situation which exists only within each painting. I have worked for years to perfect my technique while attempting to maintain the integrity of both the compositional design and the brush stroke because it is after all
